The Infiniti QX80 Gets A Twin-Turbo V6 And A Big Tech Boost For 2025
The Infiniti QX80 is old. It’s only on its second generation, but it’s been around for almost 15 years thanks to its 2011 debut. After a few facelifts that weren’t fooling anyone, Infiniti has finally gotten around to redesigning the QX80 for 2025.
Infiniti previewed the new QX80 in late 2023 with the QX Monograph Concept. It’s good to see that the design from the concept largely carried over. From stem to stern, the QX80 has been redesigned with a design language that Infiniti calls “Artistry In Motion.” It gains a massive new fascia up front with a look inspired by a bamboo forest, a 3D Infiniti badge, and “multi-element” LED daytime running lamps.
The side still retains its signature side profile with body-length character lines, flush door handles that pop out when the driver approaches, and blacked-out door pillars. At the rear, there’s a full-width tail lamp with 300 LED lights that grows larger as it goes outward.
The redesign has resulted in the QX80 being larger in some respects than the outgoing model. It’s an inch longer, 12.6 inches wider (with the mirrors extended), and 2.1 inches taller than the outgoing model. But one of the biggest changes is under the hood.
Gone is the massive, thirsty 5.6-liter V8 that’s powered the QX80 since its introduction. It’s been replaced by a twin-turbo version of Nissan’s VR V6 that’s used exclusively in the QX80 (and Nissan Patrol in other markets). It makes 450 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, and it’s paired to a nine-speed automatic with rear- or four-wheel drive options
The interior is the biggest change and is probably one of the most impressive interiors Infiniti has ever designed. Infiniti says its design was influenced by Japanese culture and miyabi, which are traditional aesthetic ideals. Premium materials are used throughout the interior. Screens are all the rage in the automotive industry of course, and that shows up here in the form of dual 14.3-inch displays for the driver and infotainment system. Both can show information in three configurations — Classic, Elegant, and Enhanced. Another nine-inch screen under the center stack controls climate functions. There’s also a push-button shifter that frees up storage space.
The interior is full of tech, too. In an industry-first, the QX80 comes equipped with a Klipsch sound system ranging from 14 to 24 speakers depending on the trim. Second-row passengers enjoy climate control that is equipped with what Infiniti calls Biometric Cooling. Infrared sensors mounted in the headliner monitor the body temperatures of passengers and adjust the climate control accordingly. There’s also a Front Wide View camera system that displays a 170-degree view on the massive screens for the driver.
Buyers will get a choice of four different trims for the QX80: Pure, Luxe, Sensory, and Autograph. Surprisingly, Infiniti has released pricing. The QX80 will start at $84,445 (including a $1,995 destination charge) and tops out at $112,590 for the fully loaded Autograph trim. You can tack on $3,100 to the Pure and Luxe trims for a four-wheel drive; it’s standard on the Sensory and Autograph. The 2025 Infiniti QX80 is set to arrive at dealerships this summer.
