Off-Road Dodge Viper Leaves Us Feeling Confused

Like many other enthusiasts, we love Dodge Vipers. They’re raw, powerful, plus combine a look and sound that’s just so visceral. It’s one vehicle which doesn’t need to be modified, even though we also love mods. Then there’s this Off-Road Viper which is kinda awesome and horrible at the same time.
Watch a father threaten the repo man at gunpoint.
You see, we also love off-roaders: Jeeps, Broncos, Land Cruisers, Defenders, you name it. And while we’ve seen a fair number of interesting off-road muscle car builds, ranging from hilariously amateur to impressively well built, this is something else entirely.
This 1999 Dodge Viper is like no other, probably because nobody else would add an off-road suspension setup to one, the slap on off-road tires. Just aesthetically it’s jarring to see such a svelte body lifted garishly into the air, looking like some sick derivation of a Jeep.
And yet, the promise of taking such a wild snake out onto a fire road or even a real trail makes our heart beat a little faster. While Ford Raptors are great for high-speed desert runs, this is on a whole different level.
YouTuber SuperfastMatt caught plenty of criticism when he started cutting up his Viper to make it off-road ready, and he still gets plenty of harshness thrown his way, but the man had a vision and he saw it to fruition. We respect him tremendously for that.
If you’ve ever taken on an ambitious car modification, especially something a little unusual, then you understand why in the video there are still numerous things he goes through to get the Viper ready to hit some trails, without perfecting every last detail.
For the more neurotic enthusiasts, watching this video might drive them over the edge. But we get how making something pretty much nobody else has means you have to refine things over time. Now SuperfastMatt not only can amuse some Jeep owners out in the desert but also will get plenty of long stares while tooling down Main Street in town.
