Honda reintroduces a hybrid powertrain for the refreshed 2025 Civic lineup. Along with getting nearly 50 mpg, the new hybrid Civic's 232 pound-feet of torque is more than the sporty Civic Si, but the track-spec Type R remains king.
The hybrid Civic has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors. It's basically a detuned version of the Accord Hybrid's powertrain.
Together, the gas engine and electric motors combine for an estimated 200 horsepower and 232 pound-feet of torque.
There are no official EPA fuel-economy estimates just yet, but Honda expects the hybrid Civic to get nearly 50 mpg.
Honda's mpg estimate falls in line with the Accord Hybrid's EPA's ratings of 51 mpg city and 48 highway.
The only way to pick out a Civic Hybrid will be from the body-colored garnish beneath the headlights.
Hybrid models also gain the option for a new gray interior color.
The hybrid model arrives as part of a refresh for the entire lineup, which includes minor front-end restyling and darkened taillights.
Honda has also thinned the Civic lineup for 2025, removing the EX and EX-L trims.
The Civic lineup now consists of the LX, Sport, Sport Hybrid, and Sport Touring Hybrid.
The hybrid sedan will reach dealerships in June, while the hatchback is due later this summer.
