Based on the XJ-generation Jeep Cherokee, the Wagoneer Limited of 1987 received some significant powertrain upgrades.

Big news for the 1987 Jeep Wagoneer Limited was an available 4.0-liter inline-six.

The 1987 Jeep Wagoneer Limited's new 4.0-liter engine was paired with a new four-speed automatic.

The engine made 173 horsepower and 220 pound-feet of torque, big numbers in 1987.

All Wagoneers came with four-wheel drive, either the standard part-time Command-Trac or the optional full-time Selec-Trac.

The as-tested price for our 1987 Jeep Wagoneer Limited was $23,418.
