Volkswagen's Touareg SUV left us after two generations, but the model is still kickin' in Europe.
The Volkswagen Touareg in other markets is now in its third generation. We recently drove it in the U.K.
There, the 2024 Touareg comes with a variety of turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engines: gas, diesel, and gas-burning plug-in hybrid.
We drove the 376-hp PHEV model, which also makes 332 pound-feet of torque.
Compared to the Touaregs that we knew, the 2024 model is longer, lower, and wider.
But it's still not as big as the U.S.-spec VW Atlas.
The 2024 Volkswagen Touareg's interior is more upscale than what we get in VW's U.S. offerings.
The large 15.0-inch center touchscreen is canted toward the driver.
The Touareg remains strictly a five-passenger SUV.
Impressive as it is, the Touareg's steep pricing would make it a non-starter in our market. That PHEV powertrain, though, would be welcome in some U.S. VW models.
