Rivian made improvements where they count, under the R1S's skin.
The biggest news with the R1S is a quad-digit Quad-Motor configuration. It now makes 1025 horsepower and 1198 pound-feet of torque.
A new Tri-Motor splits the difference between the Dual-Motor and
Quad-Motor, borrowing the front drive unit from the former and the rear one from the latter. It also beats the outgoing Quad-Motor's output, with 850 horsepower and 1103 pound-feet of torque.
Rivian claims the Quad-Motor will hit 60 mph in less than 2.5 seconds.
With the biggest battery pack in combo with the most efficient powertrain, the R1S should manage 410 miles of range.
Subtle changes to the lighting elements are the biggest tell that you're looking at a second-gen R1S.
The headlights will get a matrix-light update with a feature called
Adaptive Drive Beam, which can dynamically turn on and off individual light segments to shape the light pattern.
You'll know the Quad-Motor by its teal brake calipers and badge
accents. Tri-Motors get yellow pieces, while the Dual-Motor has silver calipers and black badge outlines.
A revamped UI features sketch-like imagery. Don't worry, it still matches the color and wheels of the vehicle.
